Response

With an increasing need for veterinary care in disasters throughout the state, California Senate Bill 547 was passed in July of 2021 forming the new UC Davis California Veterinary Emergency Team (CVET). With the formation of CVET, the personnel, equipment, knowledge, and legacy of previous UC Davis Veterinary Emergency Response Team (VERT) was folded in to CVET, expanding UC Davis’ veterinary disaster response capacity from a local county effort to a statewide response. As of January of 2023, the operational responsibility was officially transitioned from VERT to CVET.

CVET response timeline

CVET is a fully functional veterinary response team that is on call for disaster response 24/7 and we are excited to serve our local communities, as needed, if disaster strikes. In the event that we are deployed for response, this site will be updated with our current response efforts. So check back for more information and updates!
